chapter 4

Finny and I arrive back at the summer session at 10 o'clock, just in time for my trigonometry test. I failed! This is the first test I have ever failed, ever. I don't have much time to think about this as Finny convinces me to play blitzball all afternoon. After dinner we have a meeting with the Suicide Society after dinner. Later that night I try to catch up on my trigonometry. Finny says I try too hard, but hes just being ridiculous. He claims I want to be the valedictorian, which I do. If i win valedictorian, it will equal all of the great athletic achievments Finny has accomplished in his life. Finny sarcastically says that he would kill himself out of jealousy if I were ever to win valedictorian. I think he is just saying this but deep down, I think he envys my acadademic excellence. Just like I am jealous of his athleticism.
