chapter 1

Hello, my name is Gene Forrester. I am a 16 year old boy living in Devan, New Hamshire. I attend the local Devan high school. It is summertime here in New Hampshire, but we are still in school. The reason we are in school during the summer is to keep up with the pace of the war. I am here with some of my bestfriends: Finny, Elwin, Chet, and Bob. Although Finny is one of my bestfriends, he is very agressive and always trying to fight me. We assembled a secret club that we call Super Suicide of the Summer Session. I do not want to be a member of the club because i would rather focus on my studies and schoolwork then play along with their foolish games. But I decided to join anyways because I want to be accepted by everyone else. Finny and I jump into the river to start every meeting for our club.
